Extended Opening Hours

For your convenience pre-booked appointments are available between 18:30 and 20.00 at either Broadstone or Corfe Mullen, although you may not be able to see your own GP at these times. There is also a Saturday surgery twice a month, usually at Broadstone on the 1st Saturday of the month and at Corfe Mullen on the 3rd Saturday, these may change.These surgeries are for routine appointments only and designed to help people who are unable to come in during the week because of work or other commitments.

Please consider whether you need one of these special appointments as they are limited. Extended hours appointment slots must be pre-booked, there is no emergency provision during these special clinics.

Less than urgent
If you need medical advice or to see a doctor call 111. There will be someone to provide you with advice and to direct you to a clinician if it is necessary. 

Pharmacists
  • Pharmacists (chemists) can provide advice and treatment for a wide variety of medical problems.
  • Many Pharmacists are open longer hours than the Surgery.
  • Pharmacists are highly trained professionals that provide advice on a wide range of problems.
  • They can be particularly helpful for advice about colds, flu, sore throats, ear ache or coughs.
  • They can also advise on regular medication and ways to stop smoking.
  • Pharmacies can offer emergency contraception.

Urgent Treatment Centres
  • Urgent Treatment Centres (previously known as Walk-In Centres) can now only be accessed via an appointment system, booked by NHS111. Patients can no longer access a ‘walk-in’ service, without an appointment. Please call 111 or visit the NHS 111 online website

Emergency Dental Treatment
A GP is not appropriately trained to deal with dental problems. This includes toothaches, abscesses and problems experienced after dental treatment. We cannot provide antibiotics as it is necessary to have a full assessment before prescribing such things.

We would therefore suggest patients register with and attend regularly a dentist who can provide appropriate routine and emergency advice. Dentists offer a 24 hour emergency service. Out of normal surgery hours, this service is only for urgent dental treatment that cannot wait until the next working day to be treated.

For emergency dental treatment outside normal working hours, registered patients should contact their dental surgery. Most surgeries have an answering machine message referring you to out-of-hours information.
