Order Your Repeat Prescription
Please allow two full working days for prescriptions to be processed by the surgery and then a further two days for the pharmacist to dispense your prescription. Please remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account when requesting a prescription.
Please avoid phoning the surgery to check on the progress of a prescription. The NHS app will tell you when a prescription has been issued by us, you will then know it has electronically gone to your nominated pharmacy.
In line with NHS England recommendations, NHS Dorset has asked GP teams to stop prescribing medicine and treatment for 35 minor conditions. This allows GPs to focus on caring for people who have more complex needs.
Please see here for more information.
We have had to make the difficult decision to implement a new policy regarding “Shared Care Agreements” requests from specialists. We would like to inform you about an important change regarding the prescribing and monitoring of gender incongruence and ADHD treatment.

Medication Reviews
Patients with Long Term Conditions and on repeat medication require a notes based review of their treatment (usually annually). Certain conditions and medicines require monitoring via a blood test and if this is the case our prescribing administrators will send you a message via your preferred method of communication when this is due (usually around your month of birth). Your invite will be for a ‘Long Term Condition Check’ which incorporates a blood test, blood pressure check, pulse check and weight.
Long term condition (LTC) reviews are undertaken by the GP or our clinical pharmacists utilising the information from your Long Term Condition Check. If you or the clinician have queries that need discussing, a telephone or face-to-face appointment will be organised.
There are a couple of exceptions where our nursing staff will review medication if you attend one of our specialist clinics e.g. diabetes or COPD or have a pill check.
As soon as you get this message (on your phone, via email or by post) and to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions please book your Long Term Condition Check appointment.
